2011 Fall Conference with Japheth Howard from Cochrane, AB

Now employed by the Canadian Museum Of Making as Blacksmith, Japheth's responsibilities include designing and making ironwork for the museum facility, maintaining and expanding the workshops at the museum as well as restoring and conserving items in the collection.
He and his wife Alice James continue to operate their business Flicker Forge, which they established when they lived in Missouri, on a smaller scale than when it was their sole focus.
They teach and demonstrate at various craft schools and blacksmith groups. They have two children, Cyrus and Estella, and live near Cochrane Alberta.

His demonstration was in forging pipe, using the Sahindler power hammer and a 500 ton press, and even a hand hammer at times.

The weekend event was held at Paul Reimer's well equipped shop in Cranbrook, BC. Thanks to Paul, his family and his staff for this excellent venue.

Creating shapes with pipe, using a rosebud tip for localized heat, and a good size hydraulic press.

Japheth forged the end of a peice of pipe square to be used in a plant stand which he did not have time to finish.

Some pre-cut peices were pressed out of curiosity
